what is sulphate of Quinia.
The tin reads top to bottom Like this
SULPHATE of QUINIA
POWERS $ WEIGHTMAN
Manufacturing Chemists
PHILADELPHIA
I would like some info on the company please
-- Brian,
Sulphate of Quininae is a fancy way of saying quinine suphate. This was the drug that helped build the Panama Canal. It is still used in the treatment and prevention of malaria. It was also used as a tonic, to treat fever and as a uterine stimulant. Overdose leads to ringing in the ears.
As for the company I have no knowledge but often small pharmacies manufactured a variety of products and sold them to other druggists and via mail order.
Thanks for the question!
